Well, not really. In 1999, they modified a pig so there is less pollutants in its manure. I hope that they gave it some beano too.
"The Enviropig is engineered to have the same meat quality as your typically breeded Yorkshire pig, with all the ideal protein and fat content developed for the market," reported justmeans.com. "But in addition, it is also engineered to produce less toxic manure that releases fewer pollutants into the atmosphere, thereby making it a more environmentally sustainable option for large scale pig farmers."
Someone was thinking ahead of the green movement to have this pig ready in the 90's.
The FDA hasn't made the Enviropig legal for consumption yet. Nor have genetically-modified Salmon been legalized.
"The Center for Food Safety still sides vehemently with organic, sustainable agriculture, and change of practice over change of genetics," said the justmeans.com report.
I love BBQ but clearly, pork isn’t that healthy.
On his radio show, John Tesh said the Mediterranean Diet is the best for avoiding cancer. And, diet is the second largest cause of cancer (cigarettes are first).
Maybe that diet has more answers than a pig whose shit doesn't stink.
