40 Times The Cancer

Researchers from Oregon State University have found carcinogen levels in the area of the gulf effected by the Deepwater Horizon spill to be 40 times higher. That can’t make Benny Beaver very happy.

"In a natural environment a 40-fold increase is huge," said Oregon State toxicologist Kim Anderson. "We don't usually see that at other contamination sites."

Anderson led the research. Another researcher added that these toxins may enter the food chain through fish and plankton.

Arizona Congressman Raul Grijalva says he will seek an investigation to see if a federal report on the spill misrepresented the volume and side effects of the spill.
