Grand Canyon Backcountry Management Plan

I just received some mail from Grand Canyon National Park asking for public comment on the new Backcountry Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). Seeking public input on the parks is great. After all, they're our parks.

I hope the public takes this time to chime in with ideas to further protect one the world's most cherished places.

"One of the first steps in EIS development is public scoping. Scoping is an opportunity for you to provide early ideas about the plan's purpose and need and what Alternative should be considered," says the mailing. "Your comments will help define the Plan's scope."

Public comments will be accepted from April 27 until June 27, 2011, through the park planning site, Twitter, via email (grca_planning@nps.gov), or old school mail.
